Hello Colleagues -
My 25yo daughter is relocating to Sac area from out of state and is looking for an IN-PERSON therapist. She is assessed on the Autism Spectrum, is LBGTQ+ and clearly articulates her dissociative system. There is no formal DID diagnosis - previous therapists recognize the dissociations - but her ACE & trauma experiences in toxic friendships and relationships (undiagnosed autism in childhood + inability to read social cues) largely contribute to her dissociative strategies. She also has a big heart and will overextend (some codependent tendancies). She is requesting support that will equip her with tools to manage distress tolerance, emotional regulation and improved self-awareness to improve noticing her own signals indicating impending systemic overload and destabilization. She has also asked for a therapist with understanding of living with chronic conditions in an ableist and marginalizing society.
She has had many previous therapy experiences: most helpful is equine therapy, least helpful is talk therapy. She doesn't like/hasn't had results with either EMDR or ImTT. She already fluently speaks the IFS language about her system, w/o having had an IFS therapist, so that might be an organic option.
No insurance. Sliding scale availability would be helpful in the future. Please respond with your contact, including website, so she can review and contact.
Warm Regards,
Lisa K. Olson, MA, PPS, LMFT
