About Me
I am a trauma informed therapist working with adolescents, indivduals, families and groups. I work primarily out of a Family Systems framework and specialize in PTSD/CPTSD, grief/loss, addiction/recovery, codependency, anxiety, stress management, life transitions and relationship issues.
Most of my work centers around the principle of stimulus --> response. Something happens and we react, usually unconsciously. My roadmap for therapy is directed at widening that micromoment between a stimulus and a response. By attuning with awareness to that space between stimulus and response, we make intentional choices to respond rather than just the knee-jerk, conditioned reactions.
I had an introduction to this space between stimulus and choosing a response. It happened to me in my early 20s. I didn’t ever set out to intentionally complicate my life, but I kept making choices that set me back rather than launching me forward and I couldn't understand why.
I noticed significant changes and experienced actual results in my life when I started paying attention. So profound was this personal power that I committed to help others unleash their super powers.
I graduated with a BA in Speech Communication from the University of Arizona in 1991, from Saint Louis University with a Masters’s in Counselor Education with a Clinical Marriage and Family Therapy specialization in 1997. I earned my School Counseling Credential in 2006 so that I could work in public schools as a Counselor & Mental Health Clinician. I postponed full LMFT licensure, so that I could focus on raising our three children, and returned to clinical work in 2014.
I am a private pay, out-of network clinician providing superbills for reimubursements. However, I serve First Responders and their families through CONCERN EAP. I am currently accepting new clients. Call today at 530-208-9424.
