    Summary

    Facilitate mental health services under the clinical supervision of a licensed therapist, which includes collaborative planning with other members of the Medical and Clinical departments as well as external partners. Provide therapy to individuals (and occasionally their families) in a substance use recovery setting. Develop and implement treatment in compliance with grant obligations, all state, federal, agency and other applicable rules and regulations. Collaborate with counseling staff to provide SUD diagnostic and determination of need and appropriate level of care for SUD clients

    Qualifications:

    • Willingness and ability to gain experience providing direct therapy in a substance use recovery setting.
    • Compassion for individuals with substance use and/or co-occurring disorders and those who have been involved in the criminal justice system
    • Knowledge of resources, methods, and techniques for all stages of recovery.
    • Experience in therapeutic interventions for individuals, couples, and families
    • Knowledge of legal confidentiality and ethical requirements
    • Ability to perform case management and administrative duties as required
    • Knowledge of community resources and ability to facilitate referrals
    • Professional presentation
    • Competent interpersonal skills
    • Competent written and verbal communication skills

    Responsibilities:

    • Conduct individual, group, and family therapy
    • Educate individuals on substance use and related issues
    • Crisis management of clients presenting substance use and co-occurring disorders
    • Determine diagnoses and medical necessity for individuals seeking substance use treatment.
    • Provide referrals to external partners where clinically appropriate
    • Conduct Intake/Exit Interviews
    • Administrative Responsibilities: including charting, correspondence, filing.
      • Charting for groups and individual counseling
      • Review individual caseload charts monthly to confirm accuracy and compliance with client contract
    • Actively utilize, reference, and follow agency policies, procedures, and guidelines
    • Comply with all federal, state, and agency health and safety reporting requirements
    • Adhere to all HIPAA and HITECH requirements as they pertain to client care
    • Other duties as assigned

    Competencies:

    • Ability to engage clients effectively in treatment
    • Ability to effectively communicate clinical impressions and assess the strengths and functional impairments of clients, in collaboration with other clinical staff
    • Demonstrate knowledge of treatment modalities including Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, and Trauma-Informed Treatment
    • Demonstrate knowledge of substance use, recovery, wellness, community resources, support services, and referral systems
    • General knowledge of 12-Step Programs preferred

    Education/License/Certification:

    Valid California BBS license in one of the following categories

    • Associate Marriage and Family Therapist
    • Associate Clinical Social Worker
    • Associate Professional Clinical Counselor
