Position Summary: Under the general supervision of the Counseling Services Manager and Chief Program Officer, Counseling & Outreach, the Counselor/Therapist will provide trauma-informed therapeutic services with children, teens and adults. The Counselor/Therapist will work at selected WEAVE counseling sites, based on counseling needs. This is a benefited position. Weekly individual and group clinical supervision are provided by a licensed therapist.
Responsibilities:
- Offer culturally responsive and trauma-informed direct services with clients
- Offer a short- and long-term individual and group counseling for adults/teens/children
- Crisis intervention and safety planning
- Identify, assess, and report cases of suspected child or elder abuse/neglect to Child/Adult Protective Services with guidance from Counseling Manager and Clinical Supervisor
- Provide intakes and develop treatment plans and goals to be worked on during individual sessions
- Maintain ethical and timely clinical documentation per agency and professional guidelines
- Provide clients with appropriate internal and external resources
Other Responsibilities:
- Attend and participate in department and agency meetings, as assigned
- Attend and participate in weekly individual and group clinical supervision
- Maintain accurate timesheets, BBS paperwork, and other work-related documents/billing per agency and professional guidelines
- Provide presentations for Peer Counseling Training, community partners and participate in community outreach activities, as needed
- Other job duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- MSW, MFT or APCC with BBS registration
- Complete WEAVE’s 69-hour classroom training and counselor certification program (post-hiring requirement)
- Previous counseling experience required
- Experience working with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault
- Experience working with diverse communities
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively and to prioritize and manage time
- Provide copy of valid California driver license, have reliable transportation, and submit current proof of vehicle insurance
- Satisfactory results from DOJ background check and TB Test (post-employment offer requirement)
Ideal candidates will:
- Practice with cultural sensitivity and humility
- Have a working knowledge of California clinical laws and ethics, practice good clinical judgment, and maintain professional and clinically ethical boundaries
- Be proficient in computer skills Electronic Health Records, Microsoft Applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint) and other online platforms
- Have experience collaborating and building relationships with communities and community partners
- Respond to department and/or agency needs, as needed
