Montessori Autism Programs & Services, Inc. (MAPS) is a treatment clinic that specializes in evidence-based, scientifically proven interventions that take place through therapy. Our mission is to build a community that offers children and teens a guided path to develop social skills and friendships, improve quality of life, and support families so they may better contribute to and participate in the world. MAPS offers Social Skills programs, Adaptive Skills Training programs, Parent Training and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) groups.
We are hiring a MFT Trainee to participate in co-facilitating our Tween and Teen DBT social skills therapy group.
Clients in the DBT program meet in small groups twice a week for two hours per session and focus on ways to change behavioral, emotional thinking, and interpersonal patterns associated with problems in life. Clients are taught skills across four core areas of DBT: mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation, and distress tolerance. Clients also practice their social skills with peers through group games and activities.
Job Summary:
The program’s trainee co-facilitator is responsible for assisting in the therapeutic and philosophic integrity of the DBT program. Duties include: program development and evaluation; support and leadership for Paraprofessional faculty and development; parent leadership and support; and administrative duties requiring organizational experience. This is a part time position. The required availability for this position is Tuesday-Friday, 1:30pm-6pm.
MAPS will offer you professional growth in the following areas:
- Weekly individual/dyadic supervision provided (BBS requirement) with a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (up to six hours/week).
- Promote learning in others and as an area of personal growth.
- Model professional conduct in relations with all constituencies of the program.
- Engage in ongoing professional development activities.
Minimum Requirements:
- Marriage and Family Therapist Trainee (in a Master’s program)
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Valid California Driver’s License and auto insurance
- Participate in Fingerprint and Background check
- Valid CPR/First Aid Certification
- TB Test
- Provide proof of immunizations (MMR, Varicella)
Pay and Benefits:
All employees are eligible for sick time accruals, paid time off accruals, Simple IRA with a 3% match, holiday pay and the ability to bring your children to work (as permitted by your supervisor). Full time employees will receive all of the above benefits in addition to the eligibility of Health Insurance.

COVID-19 considerations:
All employees are required to receive the COVID-19 vaccination per our funding source requirements, wear a mask when with clients and answer a health screening at the start of each shift. Visitors are required to answer a health screening as well.
