EMERGE Announces Mentoring Program
EMERGE
has officially launched a therapeutic mentoring program for adolescents
and young adults. The EMERGE mentoring program is unique in that it is
flexible to accommodate many different levels of need. Mentees who
need some guidance and encouragement can benefit from as little as one
hour per week. However, more intensive support can include multiple
hours per day or week. Mentoring sessions can take place at home, in the
community or at the EMERGE office.
EMERGE
mentors adopt a therapeutic approach to their work using best practices
in relationship-building and an ongoing awareness of youth
development. EMERGE mentors have the flexibility to interact with youth
in a variety of settings across many different activities. However,
the overarching goal is the social and emotional growth of the mentee.
The program is built around the five core competencies of social and emotional learning:
self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision-making,
relationship skills and social awareness. There is a $40 per session
fee for mentoring services, however, some no and low-cost services are
available.
For more information about the mentoring program, visit our website at www.emergecenter4SEL.org.
About EMERGE
EMERGE
Center for Social and Emotional Learning was founded in 2017 to provide
a broad array of social, emotional and psychological services with a
primary focus on adolescents and young adults. EMERGE seeks to better
engage young people in their own growth process by offering innovative
programs and a diverse group of professionals who are skilled and
passionate about working with youth. Our theoretical approach is
integrative, collaborative, relational and youth-focused. Our staff have
specialized training in the needs of adolescents, young adults and
family systems. Our vision is a world where young people are valued and
afforded the resources they need to grow into healthy, strong and happy
adults.
The years between 12-25 are a period
of tremendous growth, angst, excitement and opportunity, where the
challenge to emerge is never greater. Our goal is to facilitate that
process.
